For over two months the internet was waiting for April the Giraffe to give birth to her calf. This morning April finally delivered her long awaited calf. It was mesmerizing to watch a giraffe give birth, in real time. Her delivery did not look like an easy one; she walked around for about 30 minutes with little legs poking out of her. Imagine delivering a one-hundred-and-fifty-pound baby without an epidural’ now you know how April felt.

The father of the calf, Oliver, ate and paced nervously while the mother of his calf pushed. As April was pushing, she could be seen turning to clean her calf. Eventually the baby was out and alert. People around the world cheered with joy that April delivered a healthy calf. Some may call it an Easter miracle.

The calf is up and walking. I highly recommend watching the stream, where one can truly see the loving bond April and her calf share. The stream will only be up for about 5 days, so enjoy it while you still can. You can also meet April, Oliver, and their calf at Animal Adventure Park in Broome County, New York. The calf will be transported to a different zoo in a few months, so it is important to see the calf soon if you have been invested in April’s journey.

The year 2017, when people watched a giraffe for 2 months. More than one million people were watching April give birth to her calf this morning. I think we can all agree that it was worth the wait. Animal Adventure Park opens on May 13th. They are open 7 days a week from 10am-5pm. It is time to start planning your road trip to see the famous giraffe family.
