Columbia-Greene Community College faculty, staff, and administration are lining up for a little healthy humiliation this month.
C-GCC kicked off a ‘Pie the Professor’ fundraiser this week, challenging members of the college community to vote, with pocket change, for the faculty or staff member they’d most like to see take a pie in the face.
All funds raised will be donated to Ah-Tua Teo of Hudson, N.Y., a pastor and professor who was recently paralyzed in a motor vehicle accident, to be used toward the purchase of a wheelchair accessible van and other immediate needs.
Barbara Shaffer, associate professor of Psychology and Sociology, explained that a penny equals one vote, and voting tables have been set up in the Hudson River Bank & Trust Foundation Dining Hall where they will remain until voting closes on Tuesday, Oct. 31.
“The top three vote-getters will be ‘pied’ that Thursday during the college’s activity period, so every penny counts,” said Shaffer. “We feel very confident that the CoGreene community will be able to make a real impact, while at the same time, showing our students that faculty and administration don’t take themselves too seriously.”
Voting hours on Monday and Wednesday will be from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday. There will be no voting on Friday.
