Become a nurse or a paralegal or an occupational therapy assistant at Rockland

Employment in the nursing, paralegal and occupational therapy assistant fields is rising as demand for skilled practitioners in these professions increases. At Rockland Community College, successful degree completion in these disciplines can chart a path for direct entry into the workforce. Upcoming information sessions at RCC offer prospective students comprehensive assistance in planning an academic and career track. The events are free and open to the public.

Nursing Info Sessions

  • Thursday, July 26, 11 am – 12:30 pm

Get started toward a rewarding and meaningful career as a registered nurse (RN). Meet with RCC faculty and staff and learn about requirements, tuition, financial aid, and classroom and clinical training. Learn the steps to the application process and what is expected of students in the College’s acclaimed Nursing degree program. Ninety-nine percent of RCC Nursing students passed the national licensing exam (NCLEX) in 2017. The program is licensed by the New York State Education Department and is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).

Students are admitted twice a year to the program, which also offers an LPN (licensed practical nurse) to RN degree track. RCC Nursing provides for a variety of clinical rotations at health facilities throughout Rockland County, exposing its students to multiple specialty areas such as mental health, pediatrics, cardiology and other branches of medicine. Upon licensure, many RCC Nursing graduates gain employment at Nyack Hospital and Good Samaritan Hospital in Rockland. For more information, visit www.sunyrockland.edu/go/nursing.

Paralegal Info Sessions

Employment of paralegals and legal assistants is projected to grow by 15 percent from 2016 to 2026, much faster than the average for all occupations. Students can earn either an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree, designed as a four-semester track, or a post-degree certificate in two semesters. These programs are approved by the American Bar Association.*

The program offers internships and job opportunities for current students and graduates, and teaches the skills necessary to obtain entry-level positions as paralegals, working under the supervision of attorneys. Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) Info Session

  • Monday, August 13, 5:00​-​6:15 pm

Applications will be available for those who wish to pursue a career as a certified occupational therapy assistant. Learn about the application process and the expectations associated with a professional-level OTA program.
