Rockland Community College understands that traditional class schedules do not always meet the needs of today’s students. That’s why RCC offers options including online and evening classes, and also serves as an impetus for the introduction of flexible start dates. This fall RCC is launching seven-week, full-credit courses that allow students to have flexible start dates and to complete more classes during a term, if they so choose.
During the fall 2018 semester, the seven-week courses will run from September 4 to October 19, and from October 29 to December 20. The select courses available include online and evening classes. The courses are accelerated so students are completing the full 15-week curriculum in seven weeks. Students receive full credit for each course – three or four credits, depending on the specific course.
“Students can complete more degree requirements in a shorter amount of time, thereby shortening the time to degree completion,” said Joe Planck, RCC’s coordinator of Academic Intervention and Transfer Center. “This can enable students to transfer to a four-year school sooner. For students who are counting on their degree to enhance their ’employability,’ this is invaluable as well.”
