RocklandCommunity College celebrates the grand opening of its Hawks Nest café on Tuesday, October 9 with free Starbucks mugs, eco-friendly cups and sweet treats, as well as raffles, gift baskets and other attractions. The opening runs from 11 am to 7 pm.
RCC recently announced a new five-year agreement with Long Island, N.Y.-based Lessing’s Food ServiceManagement to provide breakfast and lunch Monday through Friday in the college’s cafeteria. The Hawk’s Nest will also be run by Lessing’s, operating 9 am to 7:30 pm Mondays through Thursdays and 9 am to 2:30 pm Fridays. The Hawk’s Nest features hot and cold sandwiches, Starbucks coffee, “grab-and-go” items such as salads, fruit, candy, chips and pretzels, and cold beverages. Sandwiches are freshly prepared every day, and bread products and pastries are supplied daily by Rockland Bakery.
The Hawk’s Nest occupies a space on the first floor of the Student Union. “If someone is looking for a quick nosh or bite to eat, they can come in, relax, have a hot coffee or cold drink, and enjoy food and beverages at prices that are very student-friendly, and faculty-friendly,” said Norman Appel, RCC’s Food Service Director. “Our goal is to keep our customers happy and treat them as you would expect to be treated.”
