Suffolk County Community College’s Flecker Gallery will present a solo exhibition of recent sculptures and wall panels by Courtney Puckett. The exhibit will run from November 8 to December 13, 2018. There will be an opening reception on November 8 from 1-3 p.m., including a gallery talk with the artist.
Puckett earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Maryland Institute College of Art, a Master of Fine Arts from Hunter College, and studied at the Center for Art and Culture in Aix-en-Provence, France; Glasgow School of Art, and the University of New Mexico.
Puckett was an artist-in-residence in Lower Manhattan Cultural Council’s Workspace Program in 2016-17; a full fellowship recipient as an artist-in-residence at the Vermont Studio Center in 2017, and a 2010 artist-in-residence at Byrdcliffe Arts Colony in Woodstock, NY. She is an adjunct instructor at Parsons School of Design, Suffolk County Community College, and Westchester Community College. Puckett will be teaching workshops at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts in summer 2019.

Solo and two person exhibitions include Flecker Gallery at Suffolk County Community College, CUAC Utah, Coop Nashville, and Field Projects, N.Y. In 2016, she collaborated with Neville Dance Studio to create a new choreography piece for Norte Maar with The Brooklyn Ballet’s CounterPointe Performance Series and curated “Drawing for Sculpture” a 40-person exhibition at TSA, N.Y. Puckett is a recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts project grant and was featured on ArtFCity, Hyperallergic, Painting is Dead, Tribeca Tribune, and New York Times art blog.
The exhibition is accompanied by full color catalog with essay by independent critic of international contemporary art, Lily Wei.
The Flecker Gallery is located at Suffolk County Community College’s Ammerman Campus, Southampton Building, open Monday to Thursday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and by appointment.
