GROW your business conference

Westchester Community College’s Gateway to Entrepreneurship (G2E) Center will host its annual GROW Your Business Conference in celebration of Global Entrepreneurship Week on Friday, November 16 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The conference will be held in the college’s Gateway Center located at 75 Grasslands Road in Valhalla, New York. This year’s Global Entrepreneurship Week is November 12-18, celebrating innovators and job creators worldwide with activities and resources that will guide them to take the next steps on their entrepreneurial journey. The conference empowers small business owners throughout Westchester County and will feature a variety of workshops as well as a keynote address by Amirah Kassem, founder of Flour Shop in New York City.

The conference, organized by G2E and the Westchester County Office of Economic Development, is the region’s largest gathering of business owners and professionals for the purpose of training for small businesses. Last year’s event attracted hundreds of participants. GROW brings together local professionals through networking, mentoring, business development and marketing sessions for the purpose of building relationships to further the growth of their companies.  The full-day forum offers information on how to grow your business and maximize success, with a focus on networking, mentoring, business development and driving revenue. Attendees are able to tap into a network of like-minded business leaders, potential partners and resources, and hear from marquee-name professionals and innovators from Westchester and beyond.

Amirah Kassem will deliver the keynote at this year’s GROW Conference. She is the founder of Flour Shop, a bakery located in New York City. Her specialty signature fondant-free creations such as her Rainbow Cake have captured the attention of celebrities and have been featured in Forbes, Vogue, The New York Times, Late Night with Seth Meyers, and more.  During her keynote, Kassem will be sharing her recipe for success and details on how she built a multi-million dollar empire from scratch.

“Westchester Community College is committed to supporting the more than 35,000 small businesses in Westchester County,” says Teresita B. Wisell, the college’s Vice President and Dean of Workforce Development and Community Education. “Entrepreneurs are the drivers of our County’s economic development. Creating programs to help them thrive is a must to help maintain healthy economic growth. Through this event, a dedicated team of economic development leaders and entrepreneurs from around the County come together to create a unique experience where small business owners can share, learn and network,” she adds.

New to this year’s GROW Your Business Conference is PechaKucha 20×20, a dynamic presentation format in which 20 slides are shown for 20 seconds each, keeping presentations concise and fast paced. Some of the other workshop topics include: Got a Smartphone?
