FIT adds new creative certificate programs

Starting in spring 2019, the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) will offer four new forward-thinking non-credit certificate programs designed to prepare the [Creative] Workforce of the Future for some of the fastest growing careers. Students completing these creative technology programs will be exposed to the latest educational content in areas such as user experience, virtual reality, and digital content design. The courses are among those offered through FIT’s Center for Continuing and Professional Studies (CCPS)

This portfolio of new programs was developed by FIT faculty with both the careerist and the employer in mind: In a rapidly changing environment, the ability to learn and quickly apply new skills and technologies in the workplace may make the difference between success or failure. FIT offers the programs on a schedule that is convenient for working professionals and, as a college of the State University of New York, at an affordable cost.

“We are living through a fundamental workforce transformation during which digital technology has begun to alter the skills employers are seeking. FIT is critical to the health of this new creative economy being driven by innovation, technology, and creative content,” said Daniel Gerger, executive director of the Center for Continuing and Professional Studies. “Our mission is to initiate a transformative journey for creative professionals worldwide so they can design a better future for all of us in the digital age.”
