10 Suffolk students to receive Chancellor’s Awards

Ten Suffolk County Community College students will be recipients of the prestigious SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence.

The award honors students who have best demonstrated their integration of academic excellence with other aspects of their lives, which may in­clude leadership, campus involvement, athletics, career achievement, community service or creative and performing arts.

The Suffolk County Community College award recipients earned an over­all grade point average of 3.8 (out of 4.0) and have made significant con­tributions to their campus, Suffolk County Community College and their communities.

The 2019 Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence ceremony will be held on April 24, 2019 at the Albany Capital Center.

They are:

Joseph Adelmann
A Radio & Television Production major from Huntington with a 4.0 grade point av­erage, Adelman has earned Dean’s List recognition each semester for the last two years. Adelman serves as Program Director of Suffolk Community College’s internet radio station and as a crew member for the colleges live remote broadcast of the station.

Timothy Atchison
A Liberal Arts – Psychology major from Babylon, with a 4.0 grade point average, Atchison has earned Dean’s List recognition each semester during the last two years. Timothy serves as a peer mentor, orientation planning committee member, student scribe, and student representative for conduct hearings.

Jerome Bost
A Liberal Arts General Studies major from Riverhead, with a 3.8 grade point average, Jerome has served as student trustee on the college’s Board of Trustees for the past two years. He has also served as vice president of the Student Government Association and is a Get There From Here Scholar.

Allessandra Domingo
A Communications Studies major from Babylon with a 3.7 grade point average, Allessandra has earned Dean’s List recognition for the past two years and serves as a peer mentor, Student Government Association vice president and orientation planning committee member.

Blake Gifford
A Liberal Arts, General Studies major from Oakdale with a 3.9 grade point average, Blake has earned Dean’s List recognition each semester for the past two years. Blake serves as vice president of leadership for Phi Theta Kappa, and is a Get There From Here scholar and a Coast Guard licensed captain.

Corianna Lipira
A Human Services major from Manorville, with a 3.8 grade point average, Corianna has earned Dean’s List recognition every semester for the last two years. Corianna serves as the Student Government Association secretary, orientation leader and is a Get There From Here scholar.

Chioma Oghenekome
A Liberal Arts General Studies major from Lindenhurst with a 3.8 grade point average, Chioma has earned Dean’s List recognition for the last two years. Chioma serves as a peer mentor, vice president of services for Phi Theta Kappa, and college committee director for the Student Government Association.

Amanda Pacholik
A Liberal Arts and Mathematics major from West Sayville with a 4.0 grade point average, Amanda has earned Dean’s List recognition each semester for the last two years. Amanda serves as vice president for scholarship for Phi Theta Kappa, an orientation lead­er and a Get There From Here Scholar.

Kristen Quere
A Criminal Justice major from Commack with a 4.0 grade point average, Kristen has earned Dean’s List recognition every semester for the past two years. Kristen serves as president of the Student Government Association, SUNY Student Assembly – deputy director of campus safety, and a peer mentor.

Michelle Wilcox
A Business Administration major from Westhampton, with a 4.0 grade point average, has earned Dean’s List recognition every semes­ter for the past two years. Michelle serves as Alpha Eta Psi chapter president, Alpha Beta Gamma & Alpha Sigma Lambda chapter president, and is a Get There From Here Scholar.
