Honoring students who acquire short-course skills

Westchester Community College’s Division of Workforce Development and Community Education recently held its annual Completion Ceremony, celebrating hundreds of students who completed their short-term workforce programs.

The event honored those who competed their studies in the fall 2018 and spring 2019 semesters in areas such as the QuickBooks User Certification, Certified Nursing Assistant, Phlebotomy Technician, Electrocardiography, Pharmacy Technician, Clinical Medical Assistant, Medical Administrative Assistant, Project Transition, Real Estate, Insurance, OSHA 30 hour, Certified Dietary Manager, Just Add One, Microsoft Office Certification Programs, User Experience and Advanced Manufacturing short-term programs.

The depth and variety of workforce programs highlights the college’s commitment to providing workforce training for in-demand middle-skill jobs that lead to career advancement and entry to various career pathways.

Middle-skill jobs, which require education beyond high school but not a four-year degree, make up the largest part of the labor market in the United States. According to the National Skills Coalition, demand for middle-skill jobs remains strong in New York State, accounting for almost half of all anticipated job openings between now and 2024.

Westchester Community College is the premier institution in Westchester County and the Lower Hudson Valley offering short-term career programs for middle skill training and job opportunities.
