SCCC campus hosts utility trucks in preparation for storm

As Long Islanders prepare for the arrival of Tropical Storm Isaias, Suffolk County Community College is lending a helping hand by opening it’s Michael J. Grant Campus in Brentwood to PSEG Long Island for the staging of equipment and vehicles for storm relief without charge as a public service to the county’s residents from August 3-7.

Tropical Storm Isaias is forecast to pass to the west of Long Island on Tuesday and potentially bring heavy rain and tropical force winds that could cause downed wires and electric outages to the region.

“We are not only a community college but we are also a college in our communities,” said Suffolk County Community College Interim President Louis Petrizzo. “It’s wise to be prepared and we do know that having the personnel, vehicles and equipment close by will make service restoration more efficient for residents.”
