Russell Sage College students will give back to the community on Sept. 30 as part of the annual Sage Engaged event, a school-wide campaign to promote local philanthropy.
Students on both the college’s Troy and Albany campuses will participate in a variety of public-service projects. The event was re-imagined this year to include virtual options to help local nonprofits while still maintaining COVID-19 safety guidelines. Students are encouraged to use the power of their own social media to build awareness and help raise funds for their favorite area organizations.
Students also can participate in a variety of on-campus activities, including collecting food and personal-care items, creating art projects, making face mask “ear-savers” for health-care workers and canvassing the college for voter registration.
“Sage Engaged this year will give all students and our Sage community a chance to participate and connect with our home cities of Troy and Albany, both through virtual and on-campus engagement,” said Carleen Pallante, director of Career Planning at Russell Sage College. “Many of us have not connected with our local community partners in the last few months, and Sage Engaged is our chance to show our support, make a difference and learn about future opportunities to get involved serving others in our neighborhoods.”
Beneficiaries of this year’s Sage Engaged include Joseph’s House, an emergency shelter in Troy, and the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York.
