The League for Innovation in the Community College, an international non-profit organization that cultivates innovation in the community college environment, has invited Columbia-Greene Community College Associate Professor of History Nicole Childrose, Ph.D., to be a presenter at the Innovations 2021 Conference this March.
Innovations 2021 is the foremost convening for community college professionals internationally, featuring nearly 200 sessions, providing a forum for collaboration among academic experts, and granting access to innovative and inspirational community college programs from around the world. Childrose will present the topic Overcoming Hurdles to Virtual Learning with the Student Passport Experience.
In light of the global pandemic – and the pivot to virtual classes in spring 2020 – Childrose collaborated with Stacey Hills, Ph.D., C-GCC assistant professor of Business, to develop a “passport experience” titled Ready, Set, Go . . . Online that will enable students to learn online more effectively.
During the session, Childrose will demonstrate how Ready, Set, Go . . . Online helps students overcome such learning barriers as navigating Learning Management System platforms including Blackboard and Collaborate, posting assignments and discussions, interacting with the instructor, and understanding feedback and grading. She also will encourage conference participants to consider how revamping existing technology might enhance student success in the virtual classroom.
“Dr. Hills and I could not be more proud that our collaborative work has been selected to share at this prestigious conference,” Childrose said.
This year, the annual conference will be hosted virtually. For more information, visit League.Org.
