Love Stitches by Naomi in partnership with Christian Resource Ministry (CRM) of Rhinebeck, N.Y., and a team of volunteers, has donated more than 1,200 hand-made masks to date — a number that will continue growing as long as the charitable hands keep sewing.

Fata explained that the masks are made with donated supplies and are distributed to a long list of responders and organizations in need, including hospitals, fire departments, nursing homes, postal workers, and animal shelters, to name a few.

“We voted to take on the project on March 21 when we heard about the need for masks,” she said, noting that CRM works directly with Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Northern Dutchess Hospital, and Putnam Hospital to ensure that masks meet approved guidelines. “Currently we have 35 sewers, three delivery drivers, and five people in charge of coordinating everyone.”

A Social Science major at C-GCC, Fata works out of her home studio, and trains new sewing volunteers via Zoom meetings.
