Zap! Pow! Comic book festival comes to Rockland!

Superheroes, manga, graphic novels and other popular comic genres will be on display at Rockland Community College’s first “Comic Book Fair and More,” set for Wednesday, October 3. The event, sponsored by RCC Student Involvement, runs from 11 am to 4 pm in Room 3214 of the Student Union and is free and open to the public.

Riding the recent wave of interest in the comic-con phenomenon, RCC’s comic book fair will feature comics for sale furnished by local vendors Comics Warehouse of Pearl River and Funny Business of Nyack. Representatives of all four comic emporiums have been invited to attend.

RCC student clubs will also be displaying their artwork. Among the clubs participating are the Digital Entertainment Club, Japanese Language Club and Triple A Club.

“The mission of the RCC Comic Book Fair and More is to offer a financially and geographically accessible comic convention to our students and to the public, where they can learn about and celebrate the rich culture of comic books and discuss their shared interests,” said David Ellis, program assistant and administrator in Student Involvement.
