Parkland survivor to speak at NCC

Thrust into the world of activism by the largest school shooting in American history, Parkland survivor David Hogg has become one of the most compelling voices of his generation.  His presentation Putting the USA Above the NRA will take place on Wednesday, November 28 at 11:00 a.m. and again at 12:30 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room of the College Center Building on the NCC campus

On February 14, 2018, Hogg’s life changed forever.  As a senior at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, he lost friends, classmates and teachers.  A total of 17 people were killed by a lone teen gunman with a high-powered military assault rifle.  Hogg’s eloquent responses to America’s largest school shooting placed him in the national media spotlight.  He joined with friends from high school to co-found March For Our Lives, and five weeks later an estimated 800,000 protestors took to the streets in Washington, DC.  Since then, Hogg’s activism has taken him around the country, meeting with impacted families and diverse communities to deepen his knowledge of gun safety and the politics surrounding the issue.  He is also a proud member of the 2018 graduating class of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

Putting the USA Above the NRA is free, open to the public and accessible to the disabled.  Please note that priority seating will be given to NCC students and employees.  For more information about this event, call 516.572.7148.
