Police training at SUNY Ulster

SUNY Ulster Kingston Center will be hosting an Information Session on Saturday, May 4 at 10:00 a.m. for individuals interested in pursuing the pre-employment Police Basic Training Course provided through Ulster County Law Enforcement Training Group (UCLETG). As established by the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, both sworn police officers and non-sworn civilians may enroll in the academy.

Attendees will hear from both Police Academy and SUNY Ulster Admissions staff who will share information about the 30-credit program, including eligibility requirements, physical fitness and academic standards, organizational structure, and Academy rules and regulations. Prospective students will also learn about the option to incorporate the certificate into an Associate’s of Applied Science in Criminal Justice degree.

Students who enroll in the Police Basic Training Course may be eligible to receive both Federal and State Financial Aid, in addition to SUNY Ulster Foundation Scholarships. SUNY Ulster also has a long tradition of being named a Top Military Friendly Institution and is approved under the Veteran’s Educational Assistance Act (GI Bill) and the Dependent’s Act.

For more information on this information session and to register email policeacademy@sunyulster.edu or call (845) 688-1560.
