Mohawk Valley Community College has become a haven for hip hop.

Michael Loyd Jr. is a former hip hop performer, and now he’s a business student at MVCC in Utica, N.Y., using his training and connections to put on the first-ever “The Loving Hip Hop Concert” at his school.

And what a lineup he’s assembled.

Headlining is Papoose, a hip-hop legend and brilliant lyricist. Loyd and Papoose were on the same record label at one time.

And it’s a family affair.

Also performing is Chanel 9, Papoose’s daughter, and Yung Fayzo, Loyd’s son. They will perform together.

Chanel 9 is best known as part of the VH1 reality show “Love & Hip Hop,” but also is an incredible performer, as is Yung Fayzo.

Platinum-selling artist Ben J of New Boyz also will perform, along with PrettyGurlSwagg. Both are now also students at MVCC.

“The Loving Hip Hop Concert” takes place on Tuesday, October 29, from 6:30 to 10 p.m. in the MVCC Theatre. Get tickets ($15 to $40) via mvcc.edu/tickets.
