Baking Memories 4 Kids partners with St. Thomas Aquinas College students

Since the beginning of the school semester, Baking Memories 4 Kids has volunteered their time at St. Thomas Aquinas College to help a class of Communication Arts Students learn PR and digital marketing skills by allowing them to work with the organization as a real client. Founded in 2012, Baking Memories 4 Kids raises money to send children with life-threatening illnesses on an all-expense paid vacation in Orlando Florida. Founder and President of Baking Memories 4 Kids, Frank Squeo shares his excitement about the collaboration with St. Thomas Aquinas and states, “We are so excited to have teamed up with St. Thomas Aquinas College. With the help of their amazing public relations and digital marketing ideas we will be able to send even more very sick children on these life-changing trips. We can’t thank everyone involved with this program enough, and look forward to continuing our partnership for years to come!”

The organization works every day of the year to help children and their families and now they are dedicating their time to help a community right in their backyard. To kick off their partnership, BM4K Senior VP of Operations, Christina Metz drove two hours to St. Thomas Aquinas to meet with the students and allowed them to conduct a client interview to learn about the marketing goals of the organization. Metz exclaimed, “We could not be happier to work with this group of STAC students. I am impressed by the detailed research they’ve conducted and cannot wait to see what they produce as our Digital Marketing consultants.” Metz was also kind enough to give the students permission to contact her at any time with questions they may have and emphasized she is here to help them with whatever they need along the way for the semester.

The students are working with Baking Memories 4 Kids as a client until December, by the end of the semester they will walk away with real work experience to add to their resumes. “Through our work with Baking Memories 4 Kids, my students will not only develop public relations, event planning and social media content creation skills, but they will actually have the experience of using these skills while working with a real client,” states Elaine Winship, Professor of Communication Arts. Metz has given the students access to BM4K social media platforms and allowed them to create social media content for the foundation. In addition, the students worked together to strategize a public relations plan for BM4K and conduct a formal presentation for Metz by the end of the semester. “As I begin my senior year at STAC, I’m grateful to gain real world experience I can add to my

resume through this partnership with Baking Memories 4 Kids. I’m excited to utilize my PR and Social Media Marketing skills, and to see what we create as a class for Baking Memories 4 Kids,” states Communication Arts student, Courtney Olsen.

St. Thomas Aquinas College Communication Arts students will host a “Cookie Craze” event on National Cookie Day, Wednesday, December 4th, from 1:00 PM-3:30 PM, to raise awareness for Baking Memories 4 Kids. “We are so impressed by the work these students have produced over the last couple months,” says Frank Squeo, CEO and founder of Baking Memories 4 Kids. “We already see many positive results of their efforts.”
