Virtually register at C-GCC; online/in-person classes start 9/8

Following months of preparation in tandem with Columbia and Greene counties, the State University of New York (SUNY), and New York State, Columbia-Greene Community College is offering a full slate of online, remote, and in-person courses this Fall.

The Fall 2020 semester at C-GCC begins on Tuesday, Sept. 8, and registration is open until Friday, Sept. 11. Classes will be delivered in one of three formats: on-campus, remote (instruction via live video), or online.

Online courses will not meet on any specific day or time but will allow students to access course materials at their discretion. Assignments will have deadlines within stated periods of time.

Remote courses will be via live webcast with instructors on the days and during the times the course would have otherwise met in person.

On-campus courses will meet in socially distanced settings, with classrooms reconfigured to allow six feet between desks and common spaces. All in attendance will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow the College’s social-distancing protocols.

C-GCC President Carlee Drummer, Ph.D., observed the College has overhauled its operations both on-campus and off, and lauded the efforts of “the CoGreene Team:”

“The Buildings and Grounds crew skillfully tackled what at first looked like an impossible list, developing new, advanced cleaning procedures, disinfection protocols, and maintenance policies for every building on campus.”

She also drew attention to a recent SUNY survey revealing that 89 percent of C-GCC students affected by the sudden pivot in March from in-person to virtual learning were ‘satisfied or very satisfied with their experience.’

“By comparison, the average satisfaction rate among students at other SUNY community colleges is 76 percent,” said Drummer. “Our results bring into clear focus the commitment of the C-GCC faculty and staff to student success whether on- or off-campus.”
