Queensborough names new VP of Finance

Queensborough Community College President Dr. Christine Mangino announced the appointment of Dr. Gissette Forte as the Vice President for Finance and Administration. She succeeds William Faulkner, who retired on June 30. Faulkner, who began at Queensborough in 2005 and served as Vice President for Finance and Administration since 2014, oversaw the budget and college response during a decline in enrollment and the COVID-19 crisis and spearheaded multiple capital projects, including the completion of the College’s electrical infrastructure and Queensborough Performing Arts Center (QPAC) upgrades, and the upcoming Science Student Cafeteria project. Dr. Forte, currently the Assistant Vice President for Budget and Finance at Brooklyn College, will join Queensborough on August 7.

“We are very excited to welcome Dr. Gissette Forte to the Queensborough community and our leadership team,” said President Christine Mangino. “She brings tremendous experience and will guide us as we remain fiscally responsible while providing our students the best programs and services.”

In her new role, Dr. Forte will serve as the College’s Chief Financial Officer overseeing the operational and capital budgets and leading human resources, operations and facilities, continuing education, and public safety. At Brooklyn College, Dr. Forte manages the institution’s financial resources and empowers the College to make informed fiscal decisions. Her prior experience includes serving as the Business Affairs Director at Borough of Manhattan Community College, Controller for the SUNY Manhattan Educational Opportunity Center, and Finance/Operations Manager at Hostos Community College.

“I look forward to joining Queensborough Community College and meeting the Campus Community,” said Dr. Gissette Forte. “I am eager to work alongside a strong leadership team to advance the College’s strategic plan and support its continued growth and success.”

Dr. Forte earned her doctorate in Education with an emphasis on Educational Leadership from Edgewood College in Madison, Wisconsin, a master’s in Management and Leadership from the CUNY Graduate Center, and a master’s in Finance from Baruch College. She also serves as adjunct faculty at Metropolitan College of New York and is pursuing a second doctoral degree in Business Administration at Baruch College.

Dr. Forte’s appointment follows a rigorous search guided by a campus search committee chaired by Chief of Staff Lanaia DuBose.  Members of the committee included:

  • Brian Mitra, Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management
  • Miguel Quiroz, Finance Director
  • Parisa Assassi, Assistant Professor, Health, Physical Education and Dance
  • John Triolo, Public Safety Director
  • Steven Dahlke, Associate Professor, Music
  • Chenxi Ding, Finance Manager and Inclusion Representative
