Nassau Community College, a campus of the State University of New York, is accepting students into its new ASAP (Advancing Success in Associate Pathways) program for the Fall 2024 semester beginning September 3. The program is designed to provide motivated students with academic, social and financial support with the goal of graduating within three years.
ASAP provides many benefits for eligible students, including financial assistance with buying textbooks, incentive grants for indirect costs of education, a dedicated advisor, special registration options, opportunity to take classes with fellow ASAP students to foster community, and career counseling and academic support services. Students apply for the program on the NCC website. The college’s initial cohort of 73 students began their studies in the Spring 2024 semester.
“Programs like ASAP and ACE (the Accelerate, Complete and Engage baccalaureate program) have a strong, nationally recognized track record of boosting student success by focusing on academic achievement and student support,” said SUNY Chancellor John B. King, Jr. SUNY estimates that the two programs will support at least 3,750 students across 25 participating campuses.
“At our heart, we believe that every student carries a unique potential to transform not just their own lives, but the world around them,” said NCC’s ASAP Director Kerry Nelson. “Our mission is clear – to provide comprehensive support that addresses the diverse needs of our students, ensuring that they have the tools, resources and guidance necessary to graduate within three years.”

ASAP is modeled on the highly successful City University of New York (CUNY) Accelerated Study in Associate Program, which has been found through rigorous evaluation to dramatically increase completion rates, narrow opportunity gaps, and realize cost efficiencies and benefits.
